#5 AEW’s Evil Uno talks about receiving a WWE tryout offer
Evil Uno is presently one of the most prominent members of AEW’s Dark Order, and the 33-year-old star has enjoyed a solid run since joining Tony Khan’s company.
The Canadian pro wrestler appeared on the Talk is Jericho podcast and revealed that he received a WWE Tryout offer only after signing an AEW contract.
Uno explained that he never saw himself joining Vince McMahon’s promotion as he considered himself an oddly unique performer who didn’t necessarily fit the WWE mold. Evil Uno admitted that getting into WWE was never his goal, to begin with, as he had something else in mind for his gimmick.
WWE’s interest might not have even mattered as Evil Uno is willing to carve out a different direction in his career, and he seems to have settled down well in AEW as a founding member of The Dark Order.
#4 AEW’s Matt Hardy comments on Lio Rush’s retirement and predicts an in-ring return
Lio Rush recently announced his retirement from pro wrestling following a surprise AEW debut at Double or Nothing. The former WWE superstar cited an injury as the reason behind his decision in a lengthy statement.
Matt Hardy, however, believes that Lio Rush will eventually return to the squared circle. During a recent interview with Signed by Superstars, the tag team legend recalled working the AEW Double or Nothing Casino Battle Royal match with Lio Rush.
Big Money Matt revealed he saw Rush wearing a sling backstage after the match, confirming the former Cruiserweight Champion’s legitimate post-show injury.
The AEW star added that he doesn’t see Lio Rush retiring for good and predicted the 26-year-old star will make a triumphant in-ring return in the future.
Despite encountering his fair share of struggles, Lio Rush is a very talented performer who didn’t fully showcase his true potential during his active wrestling career. We hope Matt Hardy’s premonition does indeed come to fruition.
#3 AEW’s Vickie Guerrero comments on Dominik Mysterio’s evolution in wrestling, WWE custody storyline
Vickie Guerrero is at her irksome best these days as Nyla Rose’s heel manager in AEW, and she recently made an appearance on the It’s Our House Podcast.
The on-screen AEW personality spoke about Dominik Mysterio and how the young WWE Superstar has evolved in professional wrestling. AEW’s Vickie recalled that Dominik was a natural who played his role to a tee during the custody storyline featuring Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero.
The AEW manager stated that Dominik was always gifted with talent and praised the star for handling the custody angle with ease.
Vickie Guerrero was glad to see Dominik develop a compelling character as she never doubted the 24-year-old Superstar’s potential as a wrestler. The former WWE GM said that Dominik has also not been apprehensive of the camera, and she has been thoroughly fascinated with his progress.
Dominik Mysterio is living the dream as he holds the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with his legendary father, and his WWE career is only expected to get better.
#2 The Bunny wants Rosemary in AEW
AEW’s Bunny, aka Allie, was a guest on the latest episode of the AEW Unrestricted podcast, where she revealed her desire to reunite with Rosemary.
For those who don’t know, Rosemary and Allie share a deep history as they teamed together in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling.
Bunny and Rosemary formed a twisted alliance in IMPACT Wrestling, and the duo received plaudits for their chemistry. Bunny was written off IMPACT Wrestling TV in an angle where she ‘died’ in Rosemary’s arms.
A reunion at AEW would be a dream come true for Allie, who also wants to feud with Rosemary again. The Hardy Family Office member stated that she fondly cherished her storyline with Rosemary and would love to work with one of her best friends again at All Elite Wrestling.
Rosemary is currently contracted to IMPACT Wrestling, and a potential AEW appearance should never be ruled out.
#1 Tony Khan reveals why AEW rejected a ThunderDome-like idea
WWE has relied on the Thunderdome concept throughout the pandemic, and surprisingly enough, AEW never followed.
During a recent chat with UPI.com, Tony Khan revealed that AEW indeed turned down the idea of having ThunderDome-inspired video walls for its shows.
The AEW president had no problems with WWE’s Thunderdome, and he even called it a ‘fine idea.’ Khan noted that having a video wall setup is a financially viable option, but he had a different vision for AEW programming. Khan wanted to devise ways to have fans every week, and he highlighted how AEW created a ‘wrestling territory’ by having an audience every week.
