Jon Moxley was due to undergo a significant tweak in his gimmick, prior to Tony Khan’s announcement about his break. A top star teased a character change in an exciting interview.

A WWE Hall of Famer and Attitude Era legend was asked to recreate D Generation X using AEW stars. Darby Allin spoke about his relationship with Sting and a former AEW world champion gave his thoughts on MJF’s scathing promos in recent weeks.

Without any delay, let’s jump right into it.

#5. Jon Moxley was set to undergo a ‘personality change’ in AEW

As has been widely covered, Jon Moxley checked himself into an inpatient program for alcohol treatment. Tony Khan made the announcement a week back that the former AEW world champion will be taking time off.

It has now been reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that prior to the change of plans, Jon Moxley was set to undergo a personality change. It wasn’t specified if it was going to be a new babyface gimmick or a full-blown heel turn.

The signs were there for a heel turn, as Moxley squashed Wheeler Yuta before destroying 10 of the Dark Order in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.

Jon Moxley’s promos also hinted towards a heel turn as he was more unhinged than ever. He was truly intent on doing as much damage as possible without caring about who got in his way.

Orange Cassidy and Jon Moxley were set to square off on AEW Dynamite but the latter was replaced by Miro. The Redeemer won the match to set up a date against Bryan Danielson at AEW Full Gear. The winner becomes the number one contender for the AEW World Championship.

Fans were extremely excited at the prospect of Jon Moxley vs Bryan Danielson at Full Gear but some things are more important than wrestling. Jonathan Good has overcome everything in his life and there’s no doubt he’ll make a thunderous return in the near future

#4. AEW star Malakai Black teases a big change to his character

AEW star Malakai Black will be making changes to his character soon. A few members could also be added to the House of Black.

Speaking about his character Black said:

While talking about the House of Black and the potential addition of new members, he said the following:

After coming out of his feud with Cody Rhodes, it will be interesting to see where the feud between Black/Andrade and Rhodes/PAC goes.

After Andrade defeated the American Nightmare at AEW Dynamite. Could we see a titanic tag team clash at Full Gear?

#3. WWE Hall of Famer reveals how he’d recreate D Generation X in AEW

AEW boasts several talented stars who would be great in any era of wrestling. Among their ranks is the popular star from the Attitude Era, Billy Gunn.

The WWE Hall of Famer was a part of the iconic D Generation X stable that was a huge hit with the WWE audience during its heyday. AEW has a lot of factions, most notably the Inner Circle and the Pinnacle. Billy Gunn is in the Gunn Club himself.

Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda Wrestling had the opportunity to pick the two-time WWE Hardcore Champion’s brain and asked him to choose members from the AEW roster to create a modern-day D Generation X. This was his response:

MJF as the leader would make sense. The Salt of the Earth is unquestionably the most detestable heel in AEW and has a great future ahead of him as a top star. The Young Bucks are an all-time great tag team so their spot is justified as well.

Chyna’s role could be debated. As talented and impressive as Ruby Soho is, Jade Cargill resembles Chyna quite spectacularly. Both women were physical specimens, capable of taking down anyone.

Regardless, if AEW decides to venture down this route someday, it will be incredibly fascinating to see how Tony Khan executes such a stable.

#2. Chris Jericho felt MJF’s promo on AEW Dynamite made people uncomfortable

MJF has been cutting some scathing promos on AEW programming over the past few weeks. The Dynamite Diamond Ring winner has been dangling on the line of what is acceptable.

MJF went hard at Brian Pillman Jr. during their feud, often insulting his family. The former went as far as bringing up Brian Pillman’s death. MJF went down the controversial route again when he spoke about Lex Luger being in a wheelchair while addressing Sting.

In a recent interview on Sports Media with Richard Deitsch, AEW star Chris Jericho spoke about these comments about Lex Luger, saying he believes those comments made people feel uncomfortable.

MJF is extremely committed to his character. So much so that he doesn’t break character outside the ring either. He also viciously insulted his parents in another display of his heel character.

It’s up for debate as to how far is too far. There is no doubt that if there’s one man in AEW who people love booing, it is MJF.

#1. Darby Allin spoke about his relationship with Sting in AEW

Sting and Darby Allin have become an inseparable duo in AEW. The Icon has been both a friend and a mentor to the former Evolve star. Sting even made an in-ring return alongside Darby Allin, with the duo winning every match together so far.

Darby Allin was full of praise for Sting, especially the former WCW stalwart’s humility. The former TNT champion went on to say that he played a crucial hand in convincing the Vigilante to wrestle in front of live crowds again.

Sting and Allin have wrestled with some of the biggest teams in AEW. Their first match together was a cinematic match at AEW Revolution when they took on Team Taz’s Ricky Starks and Brian Cage in a street fight.

The Stinger wrestled a live match for the first time at AEW Double or Nothing when him and Darby defeated the Men of the Year. Their last win came against the current AAA tag team champions FTR.

Darby Allin will face MJF at Full Gear in what promises to be a cracker of a match.
